Oregon City School District is proud to recognize Elizabeth Gonzalez of Candy Lane Elementary School as this year’s recipient of the district’s Connector Award, part of OCSD’s Strategic Plan Staff Awards.

The Connector Award recognizes staff members who build meaningful relationships among students, families, colleagues and community partners. These connections help create a stronger school community—one where families feel welcomed, communication is accessible and students benefit from the collective support of the people around them.

Gonzalez’s recognition celebrates the care and commitment she brings to strengthening connections at Candy Lane Elementary. Through her work, she helps foster an environment where students and families feel seen, valued and included. Her efforts reflect the important role staff members play in helping families engage with their school and in building the trust that supports student success.

The Connector Award aligns with the Oregon City School District Strategic Plan priority of Engaged Communities. This priority focuses on developing strong, authentic partnerships among schools, families and the community. Its purpose is to ensure that families and community members have meaningful opportunities to participate in and support the educational experiences of students.

When schools and families work together, students benefit. Strong communication, trusted relationships and shared support help create the conditions in which students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Gonzalez’s work demonstrates how everyday acts of connection can make a lasting difference for students and the broader school community.

Gonzalez was among 10 Oregon City School District staff members recognized at Welcome Back Day for bringing the district’s Strategic Plan to life through their everyday work.
